When former President Barrack Obama spoke in public for the first time since leaving the office, he did not once mention President Donald Trump’s name. Anyone would expect the former president clash with Trump.

In a forum, Obama laid out instead lessons he learned as a young community organizer back then. He also vowed to help bring up the next generation of leaders.

“I’m spending a lot of time thinking about what is the most important thing I can do for my next job?… most important thing I can do is to help in any way I can prepare the next generation of leadership…,”

He said.

The only closest way Obama got to politics is commenting on immigration and workers. Most parts of his speech were about his family.

Both Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama have shied away from the public spotlight since leaving the office. They may be spotted having a vacation on a private island.

Obama ended the forum on an optimistic note,

“I have to say that there’s a reason why I’m always optimistic, even when things look like they’re not going the way I want,” he said. “And that’s because of young people like this.”
