Two years ago, Pope Francis opened a shower service next to St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. In addition, he opened a barber service and dormitory nearby.

Now, Pope opened a free laundry place for the poor in Rome. It is to “restore dignity to many people who are our brothers and sisters”. As a result, this is the second facility the Pope has opened for the poor in Rome.

Whirlpool Corporation donated six washing machines, six dryers, and a number of irons. Also, Proctor and Gamble provided the laundry detergent and softener.

It seems like there would be also showers, a barbershop, and medical services soon at the location according to the Vatican.

The laundry place is in the Roman neighborhood of Trastevere, not far from the Vatican. It is in an old hospital complex run by the Community of St. Egidio.
