As if in retaliation, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez is now studying the possibility of filing an impeachment complaint against Vice President Robredo.
Alvarez believes that the statements of VP Robredo in a video she sent to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs betrays public trust and is an impeachable offense under the1987 Philippine Constitution.
“Sa buong buhay ko, ngayon lang ako nakakita ng isang mataas na opisyal ng gobyerno na walang pakundangan siraan ang ating bansa sa international community… Ano ang magiging epekto noon economically?”
Robredo being a vocal critic of the administration’s war on drugs and alleged state-sponsored killings.
Despite being ruled off by Duterte as a part of the destabilization plot against him, Alvarez still believes that Robredo is involved with the impeachment complaint against the president.
Although it does seem a bit suspicious that the date of VP Robredo’s video release coincides with the filing of the impeachment complaint.
An immediate declaration of a possible impeachment complaint from Alvarez is a tad bit rushed in itself.
The camp of VP Leni Robredo is still yet to comment on the issue.
