White House press secretary Sean Spicer said that President Donald Trump who used the term “wiretap” in his posts on Twitter meant different.
There’s a whole host of things that fall into the category… and a wide range of ways in which somebody can be monitored or followed up on.
However, wiretapping is a specific term used in reference to intercepting telephone or internet conversations to monitor and obtain information.
Spicer also tried to soften the intensely personal nature of Trump’s tweets about Obama.
Spicer told this to reporters despite the fact that Trump referred specifically to Obama multiple times in the tweets:
He doesn’t think President Obama went up and tapped his phone personally.
The congressional committees for the Justice Department asked them to turn over any evidence that Trump was spied by the Obama administration. The White House has yet to produce any evidence that Trump’s phones were tapped.
