Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte slams CBCP’s president Archbishop Soc Villegas in a way that would make Jesus proud for he did the same thing to the pharisees. This was made after Villegas’ rant against the administration in a letter for Cardinal Jaime Sin.
Sara calls Villegas for his hypocrisy in saying that, her father, the President has “singlehandedly defaced the memory of the EDSA revolution”.
In a statement, Sara said to Villegas:
Your group [CBCP] is sadly a bunch of delusional hypocrites. While all of you were up there riding high on your horses, you failed to notice that many of us down here empathize with what Rodrigo Duterte is saying because it is the hard truth. It is truly without the air of [hypocrisy] that we smell from your kind.
She also called Villegas worse than the president for failing to recognize the problems of the nation before her father came into power and for monopolizing the meaning.
You preach about freedom as if you invented it, as if it is your gift to us. Let me tell you what freedom is. It is to live a life that is free from your selective moral standard. This is what the meaning of EDSA is.
She also recalled the time when her father told her not to forget the night that the EDSA revolution succeeded because it would have meant that his father understood the importance and meaning of the revolution even better than the archbishop.
